Request for Information

A message from one of our members:

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has posted a Request for Information (RFI) to get a broad overview of what is available in the marketplace for advanced IIS. VDH is conducting market research to understand viable alternatives in the marketplace and their ability to meet VDH business and technology needs. The information gathered may be used to assist in developing program strategy and/or a Request for Proposal (RFP). The technical specifications listed herein are merely an expression of intent, and not a restrictive list of mandatory requirements. To view the RFI visit Virginia Immunization Information System (VIIS) – RFI # 10198. The deadline to respond is 1 p.m. ET on Friday, February 17.

Information Requests

AIRA members can submit and review information requests—a circulation of questions to and answers from the community. Recent information requests can be found by using the “Information Requests” filter in the AIRA repository.

Information requests are viewable only by individual members and individuals affiliated with member and partner organizations. Just log in to view these valuable resources! The Virginia Department of Health is interested in learning how many data exchange/interoperability specialists work within each IIS program. The titles of these individuals may vary by jurisdiction, but these staff are responsible for working with individual providers, large health systems, and EMR vendors to set up, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade HL7 VXU and QBP messaging.

If you are willing to share information, please reach out to the Virginia Department of Health and Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam. Necesita tener JavaScript habilitado para poder verlo. with the number of FTEs/contractors your program has working in this area by Wednesday, March 1 and don’t forget to include your contact information for follow-up.

The Minnesota Department of Health is looking for ideas to encourage and support improved timeliness of IIS reporting, and would be interested in IIS programs responses to the following questions:

  • What is your experience with mass vaccinators reporting influenza vaccine into your IIS?
  • Do you require providers to report vaccines within a specified timeframe? If so, what is the timeframe and what happens if providers report the bulk of their data outside of that timeframe?
  • Do privately-owned community vaccinators in your jurisdiction report electronically? If so, is it billing or clinical data?
  • In what ways have you supported provider organizations in transitioning from paper-based clinics to technology-based clinics? What barriers did the provider organization face and how did you support overcoming those barriers?

If you are willing to share information, please reach out to the Minnesota Department of Health and Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam. Don't miss out! Make a new epi friend with Epi Connect!

With the immunization world changing so quickly, sometimes you just need to phone a friend. The next time you encounter a tricky data question, you could have a peer waiting on the other end! AIRA’s Epi Shared Services (ESS) invites all IIS epidemiologists (epis) and data analysts to register for Epi Connect, a program in which AIRA pairs IIS epis/data analysts across the community to provide professional peer support. To register for the program, select “Epi Connect” and then fill out a brief questionnaire so we know how best to pair you. Partners are paired up on the first day of each month.

Stay in the know on all the important resources offered through the ESS program by filling out the ESS interest form today. Everyone who extracts, analyzes, interprets, visualizes, reports out, or interacts with IIS data is welcome!
