Hello, AIRA community! CDC recently released a two-year Public Health Data Strategy (PHDS) that aims to improve access to and address the challenges with public health data. The PHDS is focused on accomplishing four key goals over the next two years. These goals support the primary public health missions focused on improving health outcomes equitably:
- Strengthen the core of public health data
- Accelerate access to analytic and automated solutions to support public health investigations and advance health equity
- Visualize and share insights to inform public health action
- Advance more open and interoperable public health data
To learn more about the PHDS and the essential role partners, including states, tribes, localities, and territories (STLTs), will play in driving success, visit the PHDS website.

The North Dakota IIS team is inquiring about third-party messaging engine options. They are looking at options to move away from their current custom-built messaging engine and are hoping you can provide some information to help guide them. Below is a list of questions from their project management and development teams. The North Dakota IIS team would appreciate any information you can provide or any resources you can point them to.
- What third-party message engine options are currently available?
- Do you know of any IIS using these options?
- Are you aware of any issues observed with these options?
- What has worked well with any of these options?
- Do you have any information on the cost model for purchase/subscribe versus continued maintenance of a current custom-built solution?
- Any difference in responsiveness to change in requirements/standards?
- How much custom code (if any) is written for the purchased engines for a specific solution?
If you are willing to share information, please reach out to the North Dakota Department of Health at Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam.
