POST 00918E : VACCINATION DECISION TOOL Follow-up on Post 00913E 30 April 2006 ___________________________________________________________________ The following contribution comes from Kaushik Banerjee (mailto:[email protected]) from WHO. _________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for sharing this useful tool. I had earlier shared some of the comments below with Robert Steinglass. 1) The use of this tool might facilitate decision making by a well trained health worker during an immunization session. 2) However, this tool seems a bit complicated for some basic workers who may not have received adequate training. 3) It does not address the issue of Hepatitis B (as monovalent or in combination) and Hib vaccines. These are already in use in quite a few countries. 4) A question that I have is "Would it be better if we make one tool for each vaccine (may be like the old circular TT tool that we had in the nineties to indicate intervals between doses and duration of protection) that will outline when, in what combination, and how often one can/should administer it?". This may facilitate the addition of one tool to the 'tool kit' as each new vaccine is adopted by the EPI programme in a country.
