Framework for Action: Immunization for Primary Health Care (PHC)

The IA2030 Strategic Priority 1 Working Group (Immunization Programs for Primary Health Care and Universal Health Coverage) developed the “Immunization for Primary Health Care (PHC): Framework for Action” to help EPI managers and immunization and PHC stakeholders to understand the role and relevance of immunization in strengthening PHC programs and PHC programs in strengthening immunization. The Framework for Action underscores the central role of PHC to achieve health for all and provides practical approaches for optimizing outcomes through the intersection with immunization. This three-component Framework for Action consists of a summary slide deck, a technical brief, and an online website. The slide deck highlights approaches that can support immunization stakeholders to advocate for mutually beneficial programs for immunization and PHC, and national policymakers to develop or revise supportive multi-sectoral policies and strengthen the enabling environment for PHC, and provides country case studies. The technical brief provides a deep dive into this content, providing additional information on how PHC can strengthen routine immunization and the interlinkages on the pathway to achieving Universal Health Coverage. The website is designed for users to easily interact with the contents online.
