M&I Participation Hits a New Milestone!
|
For the first time since the launch of the Measurement and Improvement (M&I) Initiative in 2015, AIRA, MACAW, and CDC are thrilled to announce that 100% of immunization information systems (IIS) have been measured in at least one content area! The M&I Initiative is a voluntary program designed to provide IIS with access to valuable data and actionable insights to facilitate their alignment with IIS Functional Standards and community-driven measures.
Individual IIS have access to customized quarterly reports in the Aggregate Analysis and Reporting Tool (AART) that reflect their performance in each content area in which they have chosen to participate.
|
Please join us in congratulating all 61 IIS in their efforts to drive improvements in their systems! 🎉

2023–2024 SISC Technical Small Groups
|
In an effort to enhance standards alignment across the community and to contribute to the next evolution of the HL7 Implementation Guide (IG), the Standards and Interoperability Steering Committee (SISC) will convene two technical small groups in the upcoming year. These sessions are scheduled for winter 2023 and spring 2024.
During the October 11 SISC meeting, AIRA and CDC reviewed four proposed group topics:
- Aligning field usages and error codes
- CDS in RSP alignment
- Triggers for updates and queries
- VFC code update
These small groups rely on community champions and volunteers who will work closely with AIRA and CDC over a four-week period to produce guidance documents, test cases, or demonstration software. If you are interested in participating in one of these topic groups or want to learn more, please send an email to Rebecca Sandtveit at This email address is being protected from spambots. Mark Your Calendars for AIRA’s November Discovery Session
|
Our next Discovery Session is on Monday, November 27, from 4 to 5 p.m. ET. This session will provide an overview of the Immunization Information Systems Annual Report (IISAR). CDC has recently released the 2023 IISAR, which assesses immunization program performance in developing, maintaining, and enhancing IIS. The IISAR is part of the reporting requirement for the 64 immunization programs that receive funding under Section 317b of the Public Health Service Act. The report is due on March 31, 2024, and the performance period is calendar year 2023. The IISAR was revised in 2020 to align with the Data Quality Blueprint and blueprint milestones. Since then, it has been amended to include expectations on reporting COVID and monkeypox data.
|
Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email which contains links to add the meeting to your calendar.
If you’re unable to attend, this session will be recorded and available in the AIRA Repository.

Calling All 2023 National Meeting Presenters
|
The Publication Project Workgroup (PPW) fosters the increased publication of peer-reviewed IIS-related articles and provides a forum for collaboration among IIS stakeholders and experts to identify, prioritize, and outline key themes and messages for journal publication. For those of you who presented at the 2023 AIRA National Meeting in San Diego, the PPW would like to assess your interest in moving your work from a presentation to publication. Please take this one-minute poll to share information with the PPW.
