National Immunization Strategy (NIS): Preparation for the October 2022 workshop in South Africa

Guidance for the development of new National Immunization Strategies (NIS) was developed and made available in August 2021. A large number of countries in the AFRO region are starting their NIS development in 2022. To support NIS development a workshop is being organized by WHO and UNICEF in Pretoria, South Africa in October with the objective to strengthen the capacity of the main actors in the participating countries, building on lessons from pilot countries and based on the impact of the Coronavirus crisis on health systems and vaccination.

As part of the preparation for this workshop, a one hour webinar is scheduled for August 23 at 14.00 CET (12.00 GMT). The webinar will be an opportunity to present the specific objectives of the October workshop, the technical resources available, as well as the key questions that will be discussed during the workshop and which the participants can prepare for in advance.
